Why do i keep getting strep throut?

i seem to get it like evry six to nine weeks my kids and i are around the same ppl and we go to the same places. i seem to get it and my kids never catch it from me. im not even sure how you get it does anyone know? please help it painful i would like to know whys of proventing it too. thanks
